Who We Are
“See what love the Father has given us, that we should be called children of God; and that is what we are,” 1 John 3:1
At Emanuel, we are disciples of Jesus—called to follow, learn, and grow in faith together. We are a community, a parish, a church family bound not by sameness, but by the love of Christ. Whether you’ve been here for decades or are visiting for the first time, you are part of something bigger here.
Our Mission: Called by Love, Fed by the Word, Caring for All
We believe that God’s love calls us into relationship—with God, with each other, and with the world. We are fed by the Word—both in scripture and in the Sacrament—nourishing our faith so that we may go out and care for all. This mission shapes everything we do, from worship and learning to service and fellowship.
All Are Welcome—And We Mean It
It’s easy to say “all are welcome,” but at Emanuel, we strive to live it. People from all walks of life, backgrounds, and experiences are part of our parish, and we celebrate the richness that diversity brings. We welcome all as Christ has welcomed us—with open arms, open hearts, and open minds.
A Lutheran Congregation of the ELCA
Emanuel is a member congregation of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA). Evangelical means we center our life on the good news of God’s love for us in Jesus Christ. We take to heart the words of scripture: “We are convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor rulers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
Being Lutheran is our “flare” of Christianity. We stand in the historic Reformation tradition, shaped by the work of Martin Luther and the movement that sought to return the church to the heart of the Gospel. We adhere to the three ecumenical creeds—the Apostles’, Nicene, and Athanasian—as statements of our faith. The Book of Concord serves as a faithful exposition of Scripture, and because we uphold the Augsburg Confession, we call ourselves Lutherans. (Catch up with Pastor Daniel if you want to find out more about the doctrinal stuff!!)
At Emanuel, faith is not static—it’s living, breathing, and growing. We invite you to be part of this journey with us!
